A pioneer of jazz and flamenco fusion
Andrés Olaegui

Andrés Olaegui

Born in Puerto de Santa Maria (Cadiz) in 1951. He worked with famous Spanish rock singer Miguel Rios, participating in his album Al-Andalus (as guitarist and composer).

He has also recorded with Pata Negra, Martirio, Kiko Veneno, Manzanita, Pedro Ruy-Blas, etc. He has played all along Spain with great jazz and flamenco artists such as Jorge Pardo, Tony Moreno, José Antonio Galicia, Nono García, Pedro Ruy-Blas and Enrique Morente and also with groups like Puente Áereo.

He was founder of flamenco-jazz-rock group GUADALQUIVIR, writing most of the music for it. They recorded three albums and toured for years Spain and Poland, alongside the band Crash.

He studied classical guitar in the Conservatory of Music in Madrid, in the School of Music Soto Mesa and with master Felix Santos,. He subsequently worked as teacher of guitar and harmony. He is concerned of research in a line that fuses jazz and flamenco which became his band's sound with special character. An original vision of flamenco, developed by knowledgeable musicians and jazz enthusiasts .

Within the research in this area and for the future, his band invites and collabores with prominent figures from both jazz and flamenco, which enrich their style with their experience.


After a first album called "Juego de Niños", they released in 2009 his second work, "Phoenix", which includes collaborations such as Eva Durán and Araceli de la Fuente (singing), Javier Roman and Arcadio Marín (Flamenco guitar), Raul Marquez (violin), Nay and Carlos Mancazo(percussioin).
